Practice My Citizenship

سیاست حریم خصوصی

Practice My Citizenship چگونه اطلاعات شخصی را بر اساس قانون حریم خصوصی ۱۹۸۸ و اصول حریم خصوصی استرالیا گردآوری، استفاده و محافظت می‌کند.

Privacy Policy

Practice My Citizenship is run by Happy Migration ("we" or "us"). This policy explains how we handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Practice My Citizenship is an independent preparation service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Australian Government.

What we collect

Account details: your email address, your name if you give it, your preferred language and time zone, and how you sign in (a password, Apple or Google).

When you sign in, we record the type of device you use, your IP address with its last part hidden, and the approximate city it connects from. We use this to help keep your account secure and to understand how the service is used. The city is looked up on our own server using a database from DB-IP, so your address is not sent to anyone else. These records are deleted 30 days after the sign-in session ends, or straight away if you choose "Delete all other sessions" on your Profile page.

Study information: the questions you answer, your results, favourites, badges and streaks.

Visits to the website: to count how many people use the website, your browser keeps a random number that is not linked to you, your account or your practice, and sends it when you open a page. We store only that number and when it was last seen, never your IP address, location or device.

Consent records: which version of our terms and this policy you accepted and when, and whether you agreed to news and offers.

Purchase records: what you bought, when, and its status. Card details go straight to Stripe, Apple or Google; we never see or store them.

Technical information: a device identifier for practice before you create an account, push notification registrations, and error reports with personal details removed.

Messages you send us through the contact form.

We do not ask for sensitive information such as your visa status, nationality, religion or government identifiers. Please do not include it in messages to us.

How and why we use it

We collect information from you when you create an account, study, buy access or contact us, and from Apple or Google when you choose to sign in with them.

We use it to run your account, show your progress, provide the access you paid for, send the reminders and messages you asked for, respond to your questions and complaints, keep the service secure, and understand how the service is used so we can improve it.

You can practise a limited number of questions without giving us any personal information. To create an account we need your email address.

Who receives it

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run Practice My Citizenship, and only what each one needs:

Stripe, for payments on the website. Apple and Google, for signing in, in-app purchases and delivering notifications. Expo, for delivering push notifications. Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, for speech features when they are switched on. Sentry, for error reports, with personal details removed before they are sent. Our hosting and email providers, to run the service and send email.

WhatsApp, run by Meta Platforms, if you choose to message us there: your message and your phone number go through WhatsApp, and WhatsApp's own privacy policy covers how it handles them. We use what you send only to answer you.

Several of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for other companies' advertising.

How we protect it and how long we keep it

Information travels over encrypted connections. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, and access to the systems that hold personal information is limited to the people who need it.

Accounts that are never verified are removed after 30 days, practice by visitors without an account after 90 days, and usage analytics after a year. When you delete your account, your personal information is deleted; payment records are kept, without your name or email, for as long as tax law requires.

If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

News and offers

We send news and offers only if you switch them on in Settings, and you can switch them off there at any time. Every promotional message tells you how to stop them. Study and streak reminders are separate, and you control those in Settings too.

Seeing, correcting and deleting your information

You can download a copy of the information we hold about your account from Settings on the website, or have it emailed to you from the app.

You can change your name and language in your profile. To correct anything else, such as your email address, or to ask about your information, use the contact page and choose "Privacy request". We will respond within 30 days.

You can delete your account in Settings at any time.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, use the contact page and choose "Complaint". You will receive a reference number by email, and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will ask you to read and accept the new version the next time you use Practice My Citizenship.
